With 8.2 million cars on Dutch roads, transportation by car is still a common choice but is it the right one? When it comes to the environment the answer is clear, cars use a lot of energy and are not efficient. Today the approximate efficiency of an average fuel car is 1 L/15 km and for electric cars is 10 kWh/50 km. These efficiencies are not sufficient and with an ever growing car market, something must change. The car industry is trying hard improving the market and focusing on better cars for the environment. The problem is twofold, efficiency leads to compromises. So how can the car industry improve the current situation, by making environmentally friendly cars that can still be comfortable.
TU/ecomotive is a student team and is trying to innovate within the car industry. We want to attempt to prove to the car industry that "real" highly efficient cars are possible. This includes that these cars are not only highly efficient, but also have the comfortability of normal cars and of course be road legal. By achieving these ideas, we will help the environment and create awareness about other sustainable solutions for the car industry. Because we believe: "Sustainable mobility for a sustainable future."
